In the case of an already mounted piece of jewelry, the IGI indicates that the report can describe the item, identify the mounted stones as well as the precious metal and purity hallmarks when present. For center stones, the shape, cut style, measurements, and 4C evaluations can be indicated as far as the setting allows.
This means that a certificate can concern either a diamond before setting or a complete piece of jewelry, depending on the type of report issued.
